Relationship Economics

Well the stock market was up today … but who knows it‟s just 11 a.m. Who know what events are going to unfold today that will move the needle up or down. If you‟re like me, I sometimes get sucked into focusing on what our econ-omy is doing and my emotions range from “oh no not again” to “oh – I‟m going to be okay.” Some days, I just turn off the news because I don‟t want to know. I‟m probably the only one who thinks those thoughts!

My wife and I recently read a devotional titled “Understand Relationship Economies” by Laurie Beth Jones. As I medi-tated on the term “Relationship Economies”, I was struck by how the “currency” of Tres Dias … building relationships. Not just normal relationships but God honoring relationships. In Matthew 27:37-38 Jesus said “„Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.‟38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: „Love your neighbor as yourself.‟

Imagine living a life focused on developing happy memories and fulfilling relationships. How wealthy you would be? (or perhaps imagine how wealthy you already are!) As we approach the Fall 2011 Men and Women’s Tres Dias Weekends, there are several things you can do to enhance and build the value in your “relationship portfolio” plus increase the value of other people‟s relationship portfolios as well.

First, consider sponsoring someone or a couple for the weekend. You know firsthand what it was like to experience of the love of Christ. So many people who make their weekends are running on empty and need to have the emotional tanks refueled with some high octane love.

Second, participate in the Secuelas, Talk Help Day and 4th Day Weekend activities including Closing. Your presence alone will be an answer to someone‟s prayer. Plus, you already know the power of palanca during the weekend.

Third, If you aren‟t in a group, begin the process of seeking out a group today. In the financial world, the investors ad-vise you to diversify your portfolio. Grouping is great opportunity diversify your relationships plus make new friends and build relationships that can last a lifetime.

Fourth and most important … Love the lord your God with all your heart. I heard recently … what if we treated our relationship with God and our Bible the same as the relationship some people have with their smart phones (iPhone, Blackberries, etc.) Always talking to God, checking constantly for messages from God, reading His latest messages in-tended for you, checking “God‟s Schedule” for the today‟s appointments … you get the picture (you don‟t need Blue-tooth to talk to God).
Sounds like some pretty good investment advice to me.
